Nova Scotia Facts 1600′s

1603 – Thomas Chefdostel, a Norman captain, landed on Sable Island to rescue 11 starving survivors of the colony established by La Roche. 1604 – French discovered a basin and gave it the name Port Royal. 1604 – 1st Euro Iron ore discovery in N.A. was at St. Marys Bay. 1604 – May 8, Du Monts arrived by ship in Lunenburg.
